Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Dr. h.c. mult. Wolfgang Wahlster

Wolfgang Wahlster is the Director and CEO of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence and a Professor of Computer Science and Computational Linguistics at Saarland University. He has published more than 220 technical papers and 16 books on language technology, intelligent user interfaces, and the internet of things and services. He has pioneered the research areas of user modeling, multimodal dialog systems, speech-to-speech translation, the semantic web, and most recently Industrie 4.0. His current research includes massively multimodal user interfaces, human-environment interaction, and cyber-physical production assistance.

He is currently editor-in-chief of Springer’s LNAI/LNCS series and editor of various top journals. He serves as one of the German government’s chief scientific advisors on major research funding programs such as Industrie 4.0, Smart Service World and Autonomous Systems.
