Prof. Anja Feldmann, PhD

Anja Feldmann is a scientific director at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics in Saarbrücken, where she leads the Internet Architecture Group. Her group has done pioneering work in the area of network management, software defined networking, and Internet measurements. Her team has, e. g., shown that the number of actual peering links at a single large Internet Exchange Point (IXP) exceeds the total number of links between Autonomous Systems (ASes) in the entire Internet as of 2010 and that back-office Web traffic (server-to-server traffic) is a major component of today’s Internet traffic. For her research Feldmann has been awarded the DFG Leibniz Prize (2011) as well as the Berliner Wissenschaftspreis (2011). She is a member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, the BBAW, and the Academia Europaea.
Anja Feldmann has been on the program committee of all major international networking conferences and chaired several of these, including ACM Sigcomm and ACM IMC. She has been on the board of ACM Sigcomm and IEEE/ACM ToN, and is a member of the supervisory board of SAP SE. Her publication list includes more than 30 papers in ACM Sigcomm/ACM CCR and more than 15 papers in ACM IMC. More than 19 former members of her group have received offers for faculty positions, in Germany and abroad.
