Strategic Innovation Funds
In order to stimulate collaboration and new projects among the participating scientists in the cluster and other researchers on campus, as well as to provide additional postdoc support, we have created the instrument known as a strategic innovation fund. Specific allocation of strategic innovation funds to individual researchers (or groups of researchers) has been made based on a written proposal. Since the goal is to stimulate collaboration, priority has been given to interdisciplinary research proposals.
The following strategic innovation fund projects were recently funded by the Cluster of Excellence:
- Compiler Support for Media Applications - Sebastian Hack
- Computer Based Auditive and Visual Scene Analysis – CAVSA - Thorsten Herfet, Thorsten Thormählen
- Design, Analysis and Implementation of Efficient and Reliable Algorithms for Complex Geometric Objects - Michael Sagraloff
- High-Throughput Signal Detection in Proteomics Data Sets - Andreas Hildebrandt, Andreas Tholey
- Mining Software Processes - Andreas Zeller
- Multimodal Far Field Speech Processing - Dietrich Klakow, Joachim Weickert, Andres Bruhn
- OctopusDB - Jens Dittrich
- Statistical Learning with Structured Data - Matthias Hein
Strategic innovation fund projects typically fund about one researcher per project.
