DFG funding ranking: Saar-Uni takes 36th place

In order to assess the quality of research, third-party funds received, in particular from the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation), are a readily chosen benchmark. Together with the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft (Donors' Association for the Promotion of Humanities and Sciences in Germany), the DFG has now presented its current funding ranking. Saarland University is improving and has now climbed to 36th place

Considered in combination with the engineering sciences, which are considerably strengthened by computer science at Saarland University, and the scientists employed in the engineering sciences, Saarland University even ranks fifth in the nationwide comparison.

In the eighth edition of the so-called Förderatlas, data from universities and non-university research institutions were analyzed for the period from 2014 to 2016. During this time, Saarland University received a total of 80.1 million euros in third-party funding from the DFG.
