Professor Philipp Slusallek inducted into prestigious scientific academy

Philipp Slusallek, Professor of Computer Graphics at Saarland University, has been elected as a full member of the German National Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech). In the academy, he will advise representatives from politics and business on future issues of computer graphics and artificial intelligence. The academy admits researchers on the basis of their outstanding scientific achievements. The scientists – currently around 500 – advise representatives from politics and business on future issues from the world of technology.

Philipp Slusallek is not only a computer science professor at Saarland University, but also  scientific director at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI). As such, he has been newly elected to the academy. The following Saarland informatics professors are already represented there: Michael Backes, computer science professor at Saarland University and founding director of the CISPA – Helmholtz Center i.G. GmbH; Kurt Mehlhorn, scientific director at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics; and Saarland University computer science professor Wolfgang Wahlster as CEO and scientific director of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI).
