About the Cluster of Excellence MMCI
Intelligent computer systems that learn to communicate like humans do; systems that will perceive and understand speech, body language, and gesture, and react interactively. In the cluster of excellence "Multimodal Computing and Interaction," what was once science fiction becomes reality.
The Cluster of Excellence "Multimodal Computing and Interaction" in Saarbrücken is a collaboration between Saarland University and the Max Planck Institute for Informatics, the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems and the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI).
In highly interdisciplnary projects, researchers develop intelligent computer systems that can compete with humans, whose senses are the blueprint. These systems learn to identify and to interpret acoustic and visual information and to react appropriately. There are millions of application scenarios for this technology. From in-car driver assistance systems to intelligent music libraries — the future has just begun.
