Independent Research Groups

A central strategic objective of our cluster is the qualification and promotion of young researchers. Therefore our funding proposal included funding for 20 independent research groups as the single most important budget item. Upon acceptance into the program, successful applicants are given the opportunity for establishing their own research teams, and for carrying out their own research agenda. Each junior research group has its own budget, giving the group complete scientific independence.

All junior research group leaders have been granted the right to independently supervise their own doctoral and master students, and the University Senate has approved a motion to grant junior research group leaders the title of an adjunct assistant professor. The necessary legislation to implement this is under way.
