Raimund Seidel is Professor of Theoretical Computer Science at Saarland University. He has worked extensively in the design and analysis of algorithms and data structures, in particular for problems of a geometric/combinatorial nature. He has developed some fundamental methods in this field that appear in many textbooks. Seidel has co-authored about 90 publications.

Dr. Seidel has been on the program committee of major theoretical computer science conferences, such as IEEE FOCS, SODA, ICALP, and the ACM Symposium on Computational Geometry. He has been co-organizer of several Dagstuhl and Oberwolfach seminars, and he is currently serving on the editorial boards of the journals Discrete & Computational Geometry and Journal of UniversalComputer Science.
